Programming
Our Activities Director combines educational and
personal experience, in the field of dementia care, to
provide activity programming for seniors with memory
impairments. We are dedicated to providing the tools and
resources that allow for more individualization while
working within a framework of varied learning styles.
Activities
are tailored to the individual resident, meeting needs
according to the cognitive levels. Programming is
divided between low functioning, mid-range and high
functioning residents and addresses the physical,
spiritual, cognitive, social and physiological areas of
learning and exercise. Activities include areas of
involvement that respects and remembers the productive
side of life, such as current events, word games, arts
and crafts, cooking, dancing, singing, building, sanding
and sewing.
With an enthusiastic, supportive care staff, our
residents are engaged in an active and productive
lifestyle that is designed to enhance their quality of
life at Barrington Terrace.

Evergreen (Alzheimer's) Services
The
Evergreen Program at Barrington Terrace is a specialized
care program to meet the needs of seniors with
Alzheimer's, other dementia-related diseases, and special
care needs such as Hospice and communication or
socialization issues. Evergreen is a custom-designed
neighborhood with its own dining, living, and activities
areas. There is a higher staff to resident ratio in order
to attend to these residents' special needs. Residents
enjoy snacks 3 times a day in addition to their regular
meals. The Evergreen unit is a secured, distinctive
environment; the services available in the Evergreen
Program include:

Services - Private Pay
Current Private Pay Room Rates
-
Semi-Private Room: $250 per day
-
Private Room: $275 per day
Room rates include room, meals, laundry services, general
nursing care, activities, chaplain and social services.
Services not covered by the daily rate include but are not
limited to: telephone, cable, dry cleaning, hair cuts,
permanents, medications, dentist and physician fees,
x-rays, fees for laboratory and diagnostic studies,
ambulance services, private duty sitters, personal
clothing, postage, hobby supplies and personal sundries.
Current Ancillary Charges
Therapy Charges - Provided based on
treatment plan and physician’s orders and are billed based
on cost. Physical, Occupational, Speech Treatments costs
vary due to type of therapy and length of session. Therapy
treatments may be covered at 80% under Medicare Part B.
Medical Supplies, Oxygen and Durable Medical
Equipment - Provided based on treatment plan and
physician’s orders and are billed based on cost.
Ambulance Services, Physician Fees, X-Rays
- Provided by an outside contractor and will be billed
directly from the provider of the services. Services may
be covered at 80% under Medicare Part B.
Laboratory Studies and Medications -
Provided by an outside contractor and will be billed
directly from the provider of the services.
Items and Services Provided by Facility and
Covered by Medicare
If the beneficiary meets the qualifying conditions,
Medicare will pay 100% of the daily room rate, plus all
covered ancillary charges for the remainder of the first
twenty (20) days. You (the beneficiary) are required to
pay a portion of the charge for the 21st through 100th day
of coverage for each benefit period. That portion is
called co-insurance. The co-insurance amount is
established by the Federal Government. The co-insurance
amount for calendar year 2006 is $119.00 per day. Medicare
pays the remaining portion. Some private supplemental
insurance will cover the co-insurance amount. You should
verify coverage with your particular insurance company. We
will bill your secondary insurance company for you.
However, if the claim has not been paid within 60 days of
submission, you will be responsible for seeing that
payment is made. In order to properly bill, you are
required to provide the facility with copies of all
Medicare and insurance cards. If these cards are not
provided, you will be billed directly as private pay.
Skilled Nursing Services - Medicare (Part A)
Current Semi-Private Medicare (Part A) Room Rate
Semi-Private Room $250 per day*
*Medicare does not pay for private rooms. Family members
and/or responsible parties are responsible for paying the
difference for a private room.

pay for a private room. If you occupy a private room,
a charge of $25.00 per day will be billed to the
Financial Responsible Party.

Medicare Part B (to determine if you have Part B

When the beneficiary meeting qualifying conditions is no
longer covered for Medicare Part A inpatient services,
Medicare Part B may pay 80% of the following ancillary
services and you (the beneficiary) will be billed 20%
co-insurance:

Policy on Bed
Hold During Hospital Stays and Therapeutic Leaves
Private Pay Residents:
A vacant bed will be held for the resident while the
resident is in the hospital or on therapeutic leave if the
resident, responsible party or legal representative
notifies the facility in writing of the desire to reserve
a bed and pay the posted basic daily rate in effect at the
time of the resident’s absence from the facility. If the
resident chooses not to reserve the bed through payment,
he/she will be readmitted to the facility upon the first
availability of a bed in a semi-private room, provided the
resident requires the services provided by the facility.
Medicare Residents:
Residents admitted to the facility under Medicare will
automatically discharge when admitted to the hospital.
They may return to the facility following discharge from
the hospital if a bed is available in the Medicare Unit
and the services required fall within the guidelines for
coverage under Medicare. Due to community needs, a
Medicare resident may not be eligible to place a bed hold
during hospitalization.
