Ocala's Premier
Assisted Living Community
Specializing in Alzheimer's Care
Superior Residences At Cala Hills follows the latest
concepts in assisted care for Alzheimer's and
memory-impaired individuals. Superior offers a
unique atmosphere unlike any other. It starts with
a state-of-the-art building that is designed with three
separate "neighborhoods" that bear striking resemblances
to each other. As residents visit a neighborhood,
other than their own, for arts and crafts, to utilize
the in-house beauty/barber shop or to visit other
residents, they are in total comfort with their
surroundings. The safe and secure outdoor
courtyards allow residents to experience our wonderful
Florida weather without fear of wandering.
Caring
for the special needs of Alzheimer's or memory-impaired
residents is an extraordinary balance of professionalism
and sensitivity. With this in mind, Superior
Residences At Cala Hills provides special areas where
residents are cared for in a home-like atmosphere of
warmth, acceptance and understanding. We provide
care for residents at all levels of Alzheimer's and
related dementias, i.e., Parkinson's, Post Stroke, etc.
Individualized Care With Home-Like Living
Our
sixty rooms, each with a private bath (a few rooms have
been designated as semi-private rooms, thus giving us 70
beds) are divided into three "neighborhoods" with 20
rooms per neighborhood. The "neighborhoods" are
separated by the extent of the illness and the level of
care needed by its residents. Our residences all
offer the services normally associated with an assisted
living center, with special modifications to meet the
unique needs of the Alzheimer's Disease resident in all
stages of the disease. Special attention is
given
to the physical layout, safety and decor. Of
course, personal care assistance is available 24-hours a
day.
Our
"Neighborhoods"
The
residents in Neighborhood One require minimal assistance
with their activities of daily living, but do require
assistance with their medications and some reminders.
They are very social and enjoy participating in numerous
activities.
The
residents in our middle neighborhood require a little
more assistance, such as help with showers, getting
dressed and may even need assistance at meal time.
Some of them are still very high functioning, but may
wander in and out of each others rooms or engage in
behavior that is unacceptable for Neighborhood One.
Our
third neighborhood is our high acuity neighborhood.
Due to the progression of their illness, the residents
in this neighborhood require a great deal more care.
They may need to be bathed, dressed, fed at meal times
and may need more medical attention than other
residents.
Services and Amenities
At
Superior we have two activity coordinators, who plan daily activities
and entertainment for the
residents. These activities may include nature
walks, exercise, singing, games and trivia,
art projects or may involve trips on our bus to local
restaurants for lunch, a
picnic at Uncle Donald's Farm, a visit to Silver Springs
or numerous other destinations. We celebrate each
and every birthday, and welcome any excuse for a party.
There are opportunities for worship and Bible study for
those residents wishing to participate.

We have
a wonderful hairdresser, who provides her services at
reasonable rates to both our male and female residents
on a weekly basis.
Additional Licensures and Services
Along
with our standard assisted living license, we have a
limited nursing license and an extended congregate care
license, which allows our residents, in most cases, to
age in place, retaining as much dignity, autonomy and
independence as possible. For residents of an
assisted living facility who consider the facility to be
their home, extended congregate care addresses this
preference by expanding the scope of services which an
assisted living facility is able to provide to more
frail residents. With the ECC license in place, most of
our residents will never have to move to a skilled
facility.
Together with our 24-hour nursing staff, we provide a
facility doctor who specializes in treating the elderly
and is only a phone call away. We also have a
podiatrist who visits on a regular basis and cares for
any foot problems that may develop with our residents.
Superior
Residences At Cala Hills has taken every step to
understand various forms of memory impairment and we
believe that through training and compassion, our care
givers will enhance the life of each resident in our
community. We are dedicated to providing each
resident diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, or other
dementia related illnesses the opportunity to maintain
their independence and dignity, while allowing them
personal choice and promoting respect for each residents
ability to make decisions.
